In 1992 Mr. Ness made the decision to entrust the ownership of his business to Joseph L. Sibley, a native of the Adirondacks. Prior to coming to Trumansburg, Mr. Sibley had served communities in Forest Hills, NY, Carthage, NY, Monterey, CA and Ithaca, NY. As Trumansburg residents, he and his wife enjoy time spent with their 2 children, and continue to be active in the community through their membership in the Trumansburg United Methodist Church.
In 2013, after 21 years of caring for the community, Mr. Sibley sold the business to Alison and Michael Weaver. Born and raised on a dairy farm in Moravia, Alison began working in funeral homes at the age of 15, doing clerical work and assisting with calling hours. Graduating from Gannon University and Simmons Institute of Mortuary Science in 2008, she immediately began her year long apprenticeship in Ithaca and then Trumansburg. On completing her apprenticeship in 2009, she became a fulltime funeral director for Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, working side by side with Mr. Sibley in compassionately serving the families of the community.
Alison and her husband Mike, who works as a general manager for a restaurant in Ithaca and finds time to assist with funerals and calling hours, continue to respectfully provide personalized service to the families of the area. She is currently a member of the Trumansburg Chamber of Commerce, the Tompkins County Unified Funeral Directors Association, the Finger Lakes Funeral Directors Association, the NYS Funeral Directors Association, the Trumansburg Golf Course, and serves on the Board of Trumansburg Seniors, Inc. Together they look forward to raising a family and continuing to be a part of the Trumansburg community.
