Nancy K. Bennett, 75, of Trumansburg, passed away on February 6, 2008, at Hospicare of Ithaca after an extended illness.  She was born July 11, 1932, in Troy, OH, and was the daughter of Mary Etta (Weaver) Kauffman and the late Harry L. Kauffman.  She attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio for two years and the Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston for two years.  She was employed at the J.L. Hudson Co. in Detroit, where she met her husband of 52 years, Adam N. Bennett, who survives her.  She is also survived by her mother and her sister, Julia Routson both of Troy, OH; and three children, Christine (Jon) Houk of Marietta, GA; Douglass Bennett of Deerfield Beach, FL; and Bruce (Susan) Bennett of Louisville, CO.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, Olivia, Justin and Tyler Houk, Taylor Bennett, and Erika and Anna Bennett; as well as a cousin, Bruce Hubbard of Orcas Island, WA.

Nancy was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and a member and past president of the PEO Sisterhood.  She served as a consultant to the Ulysses Historical Society, and was a volunteer with the McGraw House, Senior Citizens, the GEMM Shop, and the reading program in Trumansburg public schools.

Her career encompassed several fields.  Besides retailing, she was a realtor with J.D. Gallagher, Executive Director of the American Cancer Society of Ithaca, and a mortgage officer at First Federal Savings.

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church of Ithaca on February 16 at 2:00pm with the Rev.
