Ruth E. Baker, longtime resident of Jacksonville, passed away on Saturday afternoon at Cayuga Ridge Residential Community in Ithaca.

 

Born June 26, 1912 in Interlaken, a daughter of the late Fred S. and Grace (Bogart) Elliot. Ruth was a 1930 Graduate of the Interlaken High School.

 

She had been a devoted wife and mother, and longtime member of the Jacksonville Community United Methodist Church. She also served as a volunteer at the Cayuga Medical Center Gift Shop for 27 years, a member of the former Ulysses Grange #419 and a life member of the Trumansburg Senior Citizens.

 

Ruth is survived by a son, Edward N. “Norman” Dean and a daughter, Nancy L. Dean, both of Jacksonville, and her many friends, including those at Cayuga Ridge. She was preceded in death by her husbands,  Earl A. Dean and George L. Baker, and by a sister, Dorothy Carpenter.

 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, in Trumansburg. Following the visitation at 2:00pm, a funeral service will be held, officiated by Rev. Nelson Reppert of the Jacksonville Community United Methodist Church. Prayers of Committal will be held at Jones Cemetery in Trumansburg.
