Barbara A. ColeBarbara Ann (Scaife) Cole, of 120 Cayuga Street, Trumansburg, New York, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2010. After years of an extended illness, Barbara, a beautiful wife, loving daughter, caring mother and splendid friend can finally breathe again.

Barb was born in Elmira, New York on July 5, 1946. She graduated from VanEtten Central Schools in 1964 and went to SUNY Cortland. Barbara then attended Arnot Ogden Hospital School of Radiology and graduated in 1971. She worked for the Tompkins County Hospital for 26 years and retired as the head of the Radiology and C.A.T. Department. Barb married her loving husband, Donald Cole in 1978, making their home in Trumansburg where they raised their two daughters, Sarah and Alison.

Barb enjoyed camping and going to rummage sales, finding it hard to ever pass one by. She loved Christmas and Halloween, which she always spent with her family and friends.

Barb was preceded in death by her father, Frederick W. Scaife, and father-in-law, Merton Cole. She is survived by her husband, Donald Cole of Trumansburg; two daughters, Sarah and Alison; her mother, Mildred Scaife of Horseheads; two sisters, Maureen (Harmon) Grover of Lockwood and Judith (Herman) Brown of Horseheads; a brother, Frederick (Donna) Scaife of Spencer; mother-in-law Jen Cole of Florida; brother-in-law, David (Barb) Cole of Elmira; sister-in-law, JoAnn Manchester of Florida; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many loving and caring friends. (You know who you are!)

In keeping with Barbís wishes there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Barbís Life will be held at the American Legion Post #770, 4431 Seneca Road, Trumansburg from 1-5 pm on Saturday, October 23, 2010.
