David J. Corbin, Sr.David John Corbin, Sr., of Williamsburg, VA, formerly of Ithaca, NY, passed away at home after a brief illness on Thursday, June 24, 2010, just shy of his 80th birthday on July 7.

He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. A dedicated and responsible NYSEG employee for 42 years, David worked as a line department/procurement manager and received multiple safety awards during his tenure. He was a founding member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ithaca, NY, and was currently a parishioner of St. Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg, VA. David was a member of the American Legion, and attained 1st Degree in the Knights of Columbus. He found fulfillment landscaping at home and as a real estate investor.

David was a devoted husband and father, giving selflessly of his time and affection to family and friends. He was a respected member of his community and will be greatly missed.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Charles Corbin, Sr., a sister, Mary, two brothers, Robert and Herbert, and son, David John Corbin, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sylvia Anthony Corbin; his four children, Mark Anthony Corbin, and his wife, Charlotte, of Boston, MA; Leslie Anne Heveron, and her husband, Patrick, of Penfield, NY, Julie Marie Corbin, of Rochester, NY; and Brian Corbin and his wife, Nancy, of Ithaca, NY; six siblings, Charles Corbin, Jr., and his wife, Louella, of Newfield, NY; Carol Lounsbery and her husband, Robert, of Lisle, NY; Paul Corbin, and his wife, Mary, of Elmira, NY; Agnes (Sue) Peterson and her husband, Robert, of Pittsburgh, PA; Edwin Corbin, of Horseheads, NY; and Arthur Corbin and his wife, Kathryn, of Brewerton, NY; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.


A Mass of Christian burial was offered on Monday, June 28 at 9:00 AM at St. Bede Catholic Church, Williamsburg. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 3 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Ness–Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St, Trumansburg, NY. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 PM at St. James Cemetery, Trumansburg.
