Virginia P. Doogan of Goshen, NY, formerly of Trumansburg, NY, passed away at the Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen on Sunday, January 3, 2010, at the age of 86.

Born in Ithaca, NY on June 24, 1923, Virginia was the daughter of Edgar G. and Violet C. (Locke) Pierstorff. She graduated from Ithaca High School in 1940, moved to NYC, and married Thomas P. Doogan in February of 1942. While Tom served in the US Army during WW II and later held several teaching positions, Virginia concentrated her energies on the care and nurture of family. Raising five children was very rewarding but nothing lit up her face like the presence of a grandchild or great-grandchild. When not performing the myriad of homemaking tasks, Virginia found peace tending the garden and knitting. She made many friends through memberships in the St. James Catholic Church in Trumansburg and the Trumansburg Garden Club, where she held the office of treasurer for many years.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband on January 23, 2003; one daughter Jean D. Iannacone; one brother Donald Pierstorff and one step-brother Mert Gascon. She is survived by one daughter
Margueritte (Richard F.)  Jones  of  North Port, FL; three sons, Thomas P. (Janice) Doogan, Jr. of Montgomery, NY, Patrick A. (Harriet) Doogan of Woodstock, GA and Michael J. (KarenV.) Doogan of Newburgh, NY; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law Richard T. Iannacone of Nashua, NH and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Friday, January 8th at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. A Graveside Service will begin at 2:00 pm on Friday at the Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira.
