Phyllis M. Holman, of 7578 County Road 153, Interlaken, passed away at home on Thursday. June 10, 2010 at the age of 86.

Born on April 10, 1924 in Interlaken, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Melvin and Marjorie (Blauvelt) Morehouse. She worked at Taughannock Farms Inn for 12 years before going to work as a nurse at the Family and Children’s Services in Ithaca. Following that, Phyllis was an in-home nurse for many residents in the Interlaken area.

Phyllis enjoyed spending her time outdoors bird watching and gardening. She loved all types of animals but cats held a special place in her heart. Phyllis also made many knitted items for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William Holman; two sisters, Hilda Leet and Charlotte Hoerlein; and one brother, Wilson Morehouse. She is survived by four sons, John (Sue) Holman of Redding, California, Robert A. Holman of Interlaken, Gregory (Paulette) Holman of Edmonton, Canada, and Christopher (Barb) Holman of Batavia; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Interlaken on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 11:00 am. The public is invited to attend.
