Stephen “Steve” W. Snyder of 5808 Bower Rd, Trumansburg, passed away unexpectedly at Cayuga Medical Center on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at the age of 51.

Born in Ithaca on August 28, 1958, Steve was the son of Carlton W. and Della B. (Tederson) Snyder. Following graduation from Ithaca High School in 1976, Steve joined the US Navy. He served in the Navy from September 25, 1978 to November 17, 1982, at which time he received an Honorable Discharge. With a sense of pride and well-honed craftsman skills, Steve continually mastered home projects and made a successful career in the heating and cooling business. He accepted a position with Hammond Heating and Plumbing initially, and over the past 10 years he worked with the team at HSC Associates in Ithaca where he held the position of service manager. His friendly and easy manner made him a joy to be around whether at work, home or out in the community. Steve’s caring, playfully mischievous eyes and contagious smile will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.

Steve is survived by his longtime loving companion, Delores “Dee Dee” Albertsman; one step-daughter, Katherine (Patrick Howe) Albertsman; one step-son, Matthew Albertsman; three grandchildren, Julia, Tyler and Evelyn;  brother, Glenn (Lisa) Snyder of Ithaca and their two children, Kristen (Bryan) and Brittney (Skizz); brother, Wayne (Tonya) Snyder of Ithaca and their four children, Hannah, Wayne, John, and Zach. Together, Steve’s family and countless friends will continue to keep his spirit alive through their warm thoughts and precious memories. Once again, Steve’s smile will be enjoyed by his parents and his faithful Chocolate Lab, Bridgette.

A Memorial Service, in celebration of Steve’s life, will begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church, on the corner of South and Main Streets, with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Losey officiating.  A Military Honors Tribute will be given in appreciation of Steve’s dedicated service to his country. A reception will follow at Ron Don’s On The Green, located at the Trumansburg Golf Course.
