Sylvia F. Strauss, of Trumansburg, passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the age of 87.

Born on January 2, 1923 in Northlew, England, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Theodore and Ellen Dunn. Sylvia was very active in the Senior Citizen’s Club where she quilted and crotched for their Bazaar’s.  She enjoyed making crafts, including many handmade prayer shawls and baby hats for the hospital to distribute. Sylvia loved playing BINGO and cards, particularly Euchre, and was an avid frog collector.

Sylvia was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Paul Henry Weeks and Paul Henry Strauss; a son, Marty Weeks; and a granddaughter, Mary Weeks. She is survived by five children, Bernie (Shirley) Weeks of Minnesota, Jackie (Ray) White of Interlaken, Sheila (David) Towner of Trumansburg, Jane (Gerry Norwood) Orsino of Freeville, and Holly (Zane) Chavis of North Carolina; one step-daughter, Shirley (Jack) Boyer; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and many, many friends.
