Dale F. Wilcox of Trumansburg passed away at Cayuga Ridge on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the age of 88.

Born in Ithaca on February 24, 1922, Dale was the son of Fred and Elizabeth A. (Brown) Wilcox. He graduated from the Trumansburg High School in 1939 and learned the electrician skills necessary to become self-employed in the construction business. His expertise in wiring new homes and re-wiring old ones soon spread throughout the area. Dale enjoyed his work, through which he made many friends over the years. He often played cards and watched the Lawrence Welk show with family. More recently, he taught himself to play the organ. While at Cayuga Ridge, Dale often entertained fellow residents and their family members with his soothing organ music.

In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Belma I. Wilcox on June 1, 1998 and his brother, John W. Wilcox on June 15, 2004. He is survived by one son, David (Beth) Wilcox of Trumansburg; one daughter, Mary (Allan) Ackles of Wilseyville; two step daughters, Wanna and Wanda; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one niece, Cheryl.

The family will be present to receive friends from 10-11 am on Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St, Trumansburg. Services will begin at 11:00 am on Friday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. John Kotun officiating. Prayers of Committal will follow at Grove Cemetery.
