Philip G. BondPhilip G. Bond of Ithaca- died on June 5th at the age of 92.

Phil was born in Morrisville, NY on November 10, 1922 to Flora and Maurice Bond.  He grew up mostly in Ithaca.  He attended Ithaca and Thetford (Vt) high schools and Cornell University before serving in the US Army in the South Pacific during WWII.  Phil married Nancy Stephenson in 1946 and attended Michigan State University, graduating in 1947.  He and Nancy were loving partners, friends, traveling companions and life enjoyers for 69 years.

Phil is predeceased by his parents and two sons, Stephen Bond and Christopher Bond (Kathy).  Surviving family members include his beloved wife Nancy S. Bond, his two brothers, W. Bradford Bond (Becky W.) and Robert Bond (Nancy F.); his children and daughters-in-law, Timothy (Carol Lee Fritz), Thomas (Mary Fitzpatrick), Kathy Bond, Sally Scatton; his grandchildren, Brandon Bond (Niya Bond), Nathaniel Bond (Lec Lue Vang), Tobi Hines (Matt Kibbee), Tyler Bond (Hannah Newaz), Nell Bond (Greg Preston), Lee Fritz (Jenna Morse), Claire Massero (Chris Massero), Stephen Bond (Kate Powe) and Alexandra Bond; great-grand children, Hadley and Vera Bond (of Brandon and Niya Bond) and Logan and Hadley Massero (of Claire and Chris Massero); and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances.  Several young people were the lucky recipients of Phil and Nancy’s love and care.

Phil loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time gardening, traveling, scouting, canoeing, camping and golfing.  He had an incredible green thumb and loved growing flowers and food in gardens wherever he lived.  Phil and Nancy were avid travelers at home and abroad.

Most of all, Phil was always friendly, caring and helpful.  “Nicest guy ever” pretty much sums him up.

We thank all of the wonderful people at Kendal who gave their care and support to Phil every day.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Rainy Day Fund at Kendal at Ithaca, Savage Farm Road, Ithaca, NY 14850.
