Maryann M. KnispelMaryann M. Knispel of Trumansburg, passed away at Hospicare with family by her side on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the age of 52.

Maryann was born in Suffolk County on June 4, 1963, a daughter of the late John and Camille (Mangilo) Knispel. While residing in Trumansburg, Maryann worked for Challenge Industries and was a member of Recreational Mainstreaming with the Youth Bureau. She was a participant in the Special Olympics competing on the bowling team. Maryann enjoyed completing different types of word and picture puzzles, working with needlepoint, and loved listening to Johnny Cash. Maryann loved to go fishing and clamming on the Great South Bay. Her eyes would just light up upon catching a fish or digging for clams. Every time she would find a clam with her feet, she would then dive down grab it and then spring up out of the water and yell “Brother, I got one.”

She had resided for the past 9 years with her sister Geri in Trumansburg, and was an active member of the Trumansburg United Methodist Church where she was always willing to help, serving as the star acolyte with enthusiasm.

Maryann is survived by her brother, John (Victoria) Knispel of Deer Park; her sister, Geri (Carl) Judd of Trumansburg; five nephews, Kevin Judd and Chris (Erin) Judd, and Brian, Michael, and Joseph Knispel; a niece, Sarah (Brian) Judd Stevenson; and her best friend and fellow pea in the pod, Dawn Verdi. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Funeral Service officiated by Rev. Dr. Jeff Losey will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church, 80 East Main Street, Trumansburg. Burial will be held in North Babylon on Long Island.
