David G. Cretser

David G. Cretser of Trumansburg passed away on December 11, 2023 at the age of 77.

David was born in Ithaca on August 29, 1946, son of the late C. Donald and Hilda (Robertson) Cretser.  He was raised and spent the majority of his life residing in Hector, NY.  David pursued his love of the outdoors by attending Paul Smith’s College and obtaining an Associate’s degree in Forestry.  He served in the United States Army from 1967 until being honorably discharged in 1969. David worked for the Department of Public Works for the Village of Trumansburg for over 20 years prior to his retirement.

David was a beloved husband and father, a true renaissance man with a variety of interests. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, owning many varieties of classic British motorcycles and Harleys over the years.  David enjoyed spending his time outdoors, riding motorcycles, walking through the woods and around his pond.  His love for gun collecting and his unrivaled knowledge brought him to work at Scott’s Guns in Horseheads, NY during his retirement.

David is survived by his wife, Audrey Cretser; two daughters, Sara (Josh) Cochran and Christine (Dan) Magill; five grandchildren, Jackson, Brady, Lilly, Benjamin, and Henry; and a brother, Richard (Beverly) Cretser.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. The family will be preset for a reception following the service from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the American Legion Post 770 in Trumansburg.
