Trumansburg

Gabriel Joseph Carubia, known to family and friends as Gabe, and as G.G. to his grandsons, passed away unexpectedly on February 13, 2023.

Gabe was born August 7, 1956 to Joseph and Anna Carubia of Montgomery, NY. He graduated from Valley Central High School in Montgomery and SUNY Delhi.  He retired from medical practice administration to country life in Covert NY, near Trumansburg.

Gabe was fiercely devoted to family and friends, and also persistently curious about new people and experiences, eagerly and frequently folding new friends into his life. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, and most of all sharing food and laughter with loved ones. He spent much of his retirement volunteering and driving Veterans to appointments throughout the area, rounding out a life dedicated to helping others.

Gabe was predeceased by his parents Joe and Anna, and survived by children Nichole (Caleb) and Philip (Rachel), grandsons Finnegan, Hurley, and Shane, siblings Josie (Vinnie), Andy (Maggy), Nina (Steve), and Mike (Cindy), a multitude of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and his faithful canine companion Sidney.

Gabe’s family will receive friends on Thursday Feb. 23, 2023 from 4-6pm at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St. Trumansburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier at www.foodbankst.org or Finger Lakes Community Action, RSVP Program, 159 Montezuma St., Lyons, NY, 14489, IMO Gabe Carubia.
