Adam Neil Bennett, 91, of Marietta, Georgia and previously of Trumansburg New York, died early Friday August 18, 2017 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital, in Marietta.
Adam was born and raised in Mt Clemens, Michigan. He joined the United States Air Force and served during WWII in Greece, Italy, and Spain. After being honorably discharged, he received his bachelor’s degree at Michigan State University.
Adam began his career at JL Hudson Department store in Detroit where he met his wife, Nancy. He then moved to Kensington, CT to work for Marlin-Rockwell for several years before moving to Trumansburg, NY where he took a position at Morse Chain, Borg Warner in Ithaca as a purchasing agent. Adam and Nancy raised their three children, Christine, Douglas, and Bruce in Trumansburg. Adam enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He was a Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 13 in Trumansburg, member of the Rotary club, and the Ithaca Yacht Club, where he loved to sail. After the death of Nancy in 2008, Adam moved to Marietta, Georgia to be closer to his family.
Adam is survived by his brother, George Bennett; three children, Christine, Douglas, and Bruce; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, in 2008.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 109 Oak Street, Ithaca.
In lieu of flowers, Adam had requested that donations in his memory be directed to the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes, 612 W. State Street, Ithaca.
