Albert J. Moracco of Trumansburg passed away unexpectedly at Robert Packer Hospital on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the age of 85.

Albert was born in Geneva on March 31, 1929, a son of the late Antonio and Carmella (Guerreri) Moracco. After graduating high school, Albert joined the United States Army and honorably served his country from 1954 to 1956. He returned home and took a job at the Seneca Army Depot, retiring as a paralegal specialist after 36 years of service. During the mid 60’s and early 70’s, Albert also worked as a part time Trumansburg Police Officer. Following his retirement, he bartended at the Trumansburg Golf Course and enjoyed spending time there as an employee, member, and stockholder.

Albert was a member of various organizations including the Ithaca City Men’s Club, Ithaca Yacht Club, and American Legion Post 770 in Trumansburg. A sportsman at heart, he enjoyed bowling in his younger years, hunted and fished throughout his life, was an avid golfer in later years, and always rooted for the New York Yankees and New York Giants. While at home, Albert enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening and woodworking, making a variety of items that were sold in the family gift shop during the 1980’s.

Albert is survived by seven children, Michael Moracco of Indianapolis, Indiana, James (Stacy) Moracco of Keizer, Oregon, Nancy Moracco of Dumfries, Virginia, Lisa (Debbie) Moracco, Robert Moracco, Suzanne (Donald) Scott, and Stephen Moracco, all of Trumansburg; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) DeCicco, Jessica (Joe) Haight, Suzanne Haight, Amber Hardy, Carrie Rice, and Kevin Hudson; seven great grandchildren, Zachary and Nicolas Guidi, Evany and Gia DeCicco, Isabella Mayo, Sofia Tedesco, and Michaela Hardy; four siblings, John Moracco, Francis (Adeline) Moracco, David (Sharon) Moracco, and Barbara (Floyd) Sigfried; special friend Christine Ehrhart; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Eugenia Moracco in 2000; and a brother, Edward Moracco.

The family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00pm on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held at 3:00pm on Tuesday, September 16, at the Trumansburg Golf Course. A reception will immediately follow.
