Aniela M. Wright

d. May 27, 2017

Aniela M. Wright of Trumansburg passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 27, 2017, at the age of 92. She was born in Poland on April 28, 1925, daughter of the late Jan and Maria Kaminski. In 1945, she immigrated to the US as a holocaust survivor and war bride. She became a proud US Citizen and made homes in Trumansburg and Jacksonville, NY.

Aniela was called several names of endearment but the two most popular were Angie and Nonny. Regardless of what one called her, to be in her presence was to have sanctuary. Aniela was best known for her kindness; she had a gift of making everyone feel special. Aniela shared her strong ability to nurture, was humble and patient; delighted in simplicity and loved to watch things grow. Whether tending to her flowers and garden, fostering abandoned animals or helping to raise children, she gave whatever she had to others. Her gift was a sweet smile, hug, pat on the hand or perhaps some specialty “Polish” food. Her legacy is the love for family and children entrusted to her by local families.

Aniela is survived by her loving children, Jan Wright, Catherine Howe and Debra Scott, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the families of “Angie’s Kids”. She is pre-deceased by her parents, siblings and daughter, Christine Makela.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11am at St. James Cemetery in Trumansburg followed by a celebration at Ron Don’s.
