Ann Elizabeth Gell

December 4, 1951 — June 13, 2021

Trumansburg

Ann Elizabeth Gell, age 69, of Trumansburg, NY passed away peacefully with her daughters beside her on June 13, 2021.

Ann was born on December 4, 1951 in Syracuse, NY a daughter of Thomas and Ethel (Seeley) Gell. After graduating from Charles O. Dickerson High School, Ann followed many paths. In her lifetime she was a homemaker, real estate agent, and owner-operator of her greenhouse business. After attending TC3 she proudly earned an Associates Degree and worked at the Women’s Opportunity Center in Ithaca. She believed strongly in the fellowship of recovery and shared her experience and wisdom with others.

On any given day Ann was armed with a joke and a laugh. She found humor in life, no matter how hard. A longtime member of the Trumansburg United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school, enjoying coffee hour, and attending sunrise services with her family brought her great peace.

Ann had many gifts to share. She spent her best days beside her pond with her daughters and grandchildren. She cherished gardening, bird watching, and enjoying the wildlife around her home. She instilled her love of flowers, cooking, music, sewing and art to all those around her.  Ann lived her life on her own terms. Her fierce independence and strong spirit will be remembered by all that knew and loved her.

Ann is survived by her children Ami Melendez and Dorothy Jack; her father, Thomas Gell; grandchildren; Morgan and Colin McLoud, Juliet Melendez, Alyssa Minges, Adrianna, Skyler and Allen Aho; her siblings, David, James (Cathy), Richard (Karen) Gell, Susan and Linda Gell. Ann was predeceased by her mother Ethel Gell in 2019.

A private celebration of life will be held for immediate family.

The family asks those who would like to make a contribution in Ann’s memory to kindly consider the Women’s Opportunity Center, 315 North Tioga Street, Ithaca, NY 14850.
