Ann  Van Valen, Lisa

Lisa Ann Van Valen of 2690 Agard Road, Trumansburg passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 11, 2002 at the age of 35.

Born in New Iberia, Louisiana on February 25, 1967, Lisa was the daughter of Paul Joseph Touchet and Gayle Marie Johnson both of New Iberia, LA

Lisa graduated from the San Pedro High School, California in 1985 and completed training in Acute and Long-Term Care in Los Angeles, CA in 1986.

Moving to Trumansburg in 1987, Lisa worked for years at numerous Day Care locations throughout the area. A deep-seeded compassion and love for children led Lisa to enrollment in the Child Care Curriculum at Tompkins-Cortland Community College.

Lisa also enjoyed her position as Hostess at Richard's Restaurant where Richard Updike provided encouragement and friendship, which truly enriched her life. Many people also knew Lisa through her affiliations with Taughannock Farms Inn and the Finger Lakes Park Offices.

Lisa was married to John Scott Van Valen on August 24, 1991 and together they had three beautiful children, Katie Ann, Jonathan Parker and Kara Louise.

In addition to her husband and children, Lisa is survived by her parents, Paul Joseph Touchet of New Iberia, LA and Gayle Marie Johnson (her husband Stuart) of New Iberia, LA; two sisters, Debby Richey (her husband Duncan) of Keller, TX and Kristie Suire (her husband Troy) of New Iberia, LA; one brother, Danny Touchet of Lomita, CA; two nieces, Elizabeth and Jennafer; one nephew, Tyler; one great-niece, Madyson, and one great-nephew, Brenden, and many, aunts, uncles and friends whose hearts will hold a special place for Lisa forever.

Lisa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Odelle Walker and Howard
Bourque, Sr. and Paulin and Enola Touchet.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church on Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at 11:00 am with Rev. Eugene O'Hara, OFM Cap. and Rev. Deborah Pritts officiating.

The family will be present to receive their friends at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St, Trumansburg on Monday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
