Anne W. Wagner

d. November 22, 2017

Anne W. Wagner of Montour Falls went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the age of 75.

Anne was born in Amsterdam, NY on June 30, 1942, a daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Homer and Pearl (Cook) Wetherbee. She attended Houghton College earning a Bachelor of Music with a major in Music Education and Piano and received her Master of Music Degree from Manhattan School of Music in 1968. Anne married Daniel Wagner on March 25, 1967, a marriage that blossomed out of friendship that started at church. A stay at home mother to her two children, Anne taught private piano lessons in her Joyful Sounds Piano Studio. She also taught kindergarten and music at North Spencer Christian Academy. Music played a major role throughout Anne’s life as she was the Choir Director of 3 churches, and organist in 6 churches. She was an incredibly talented musician, and anyone who heard her play was blessed by her gift. By God’s Grace, in 1990, Anne and Dan moved to Colorado Springs where Dan worked for Compassion International Ministry Organization and Anne continued teaching piano lessons, was an accompanist for the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale, and was an Adjudicator for the National Guild of Piano Teachers. In 1997, the two retired and returned back to New York to enjoy time with their children and grandchildren. She faithfully remembered every birthday of her large extended family and had a special talent for making or finding gifts that were individual and special to the recipient. Anne loved her grandchildren with every bit of her being and left them with fond memories of Easter egg coloring, Mexican train dominoes, 10th birthday trips, and piano lessons. She lived a full life, always putting her faith in God and committing her life fully to Jesus Christ.

Anne is survived by her husband of 50 years, Daniel J. Wagner; two children, Jennifer (Todd Blanchard) Wagner of Gulf Breeze, Florida and Benjamin (Kirsten) Wagner of Cortland; four grandchildren, Gabriel and Gage Clark and Samuel and Elise Wagner; brother, Timothy (Virginia) Wetherbee of Endicott; a sister, Anita (Harry) Lockwood of Odessa; loving in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, Trumansburg. The family will also receive friends from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church, 5 Bradley Street, Trumansburg.
