Anthony Michael Salino of Ithaca and Trumansburg passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 3, 2014 at the much too young age of 29.
Anthony was born in Ithaca on December 2, 1984 to Marc and Catherine (Carroll) Salino. That redheaded boy was the light and love of their life. He graduated from Trumansburg High School in 2004, and while attending school excelled at baseball, was in the Bio Band in middle school, and loved bowling. He was a Weblo Cub Scout and Boy Scout earning the rank of Star Scout. Spending time fishing which was a passion of his and with his son, Anthony Jr. and other family members were times cherished by Anthony. Sunday dinner at Nonno and Nonna’s house was a favorite time.
He was a free spirit who had many friends. His smile, which he showed often, was like sunshine. He was very giving and would give you the shirt off his back and not expect anything in return. Although a troubled soul at times, he had a heart of gold and if you knew him, you could depend on him. Someone said on fb, “Don’t cry because I’m gone, smile because you knew me.” Our guess is that is what he is saying from heaven now.
Anthony is survived by his parents, Marc and Cathy Salino; a son, Anthony Salino Jr.; sister, Alex Salino; maternal grandparents, Mary and Wesley Carroll; paternal grandmother, Carolyn Salino; maternal aunts and uncles, Clif (Sher), Pete (Theresa), Dan Carroll, and Patricia (John) Phillips; paternal uncles, Peter (Karen), Matthew, and Scott (Kim) Salino; maternal cousins, Criston Farmer, Samantha Carroll, Gwen Saunders, Wes Carroll, and Garrett and Makayla Phillips; and paternal cousins, Ryan, Stephen, Craig, and Madeline Salino. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Salino in 2012.
The family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 6:00pm, at the funeral home.
The family asks those who would like to make a donation in Anthony’s memory to kindly consider the Education Fund that has been established for his son, Anthony Jr. To make a contribution to this fund, kindly make a check payable to the Anthony Salino Jr. Education Fund and mail to Tompkins Trust Company, PO Box 702, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
