Barbara E. Mccracken

Barbara E. McCracken, of 24 Congress Street, Trumansburg, passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving son and daughter at Lakeside Nursing Home on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the age of 87.

Born in Ithaca on August 29, 1921, Barb was the daughter of Frank and Eleanor (Arden) Cronk. From the time that she graduated from Trumansburg High School, Barb looked forward to the Trumansburg Alumni school reunions, never missing one throughout the years. She also kept up her connections with friends while bowling at the Tri-County Lanes, playing golf at the Trumansburg Golf Course and throughout her 32 year career at G.W. Ehrhart Propane in Trumansburg. Barb loved flowers, baking, animals and going to the casinos, especially Fingerlakes Gaming. Barb touched many lives in the Trumansburg Community with her love and kindness, caring for many community and family members when they fell ill. She was fondly given the esteemed tile of "Hug Therapist," by many who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. McCracken, Jr. on July 15, 2001. She is survived by one son, Robert J. (Vida) McCracken III of Elizabeth City NC; her best friend/daughter, Arden (Stephen) Snyder of Trumansburg; two grandchildren Holly (Stephen) Patches of Newmanstown, PA and Matthew (Molly) McCracken of Chesapeake, VA; 3 great-grandchildren Morgan, Stephen and Robert; one great-grandson Hayden and an Extended Family of Caregivers Danielle, Kendra, JoAnn, Meg, Selina, Donna, Lolita, Gladys, Carolyn, Pat, Donna, Alicia, Ginelle, Corey, Marchelle, Christina, Maria and Lauren and many other staff members of Lakeside Nursing and Rehab. who loved and adored her.

In keeping with Barb's wishes, services will be private.
