C. Hubbell, Gerald

d. March 15, 2005

Gerald C. Hubbell, age 74, of 112 Hubbell Dr., Ithaca, passed away peacefully, following a brief illness, on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Cayuga Medical Center, while surrounded by family.

Born on November 25, 1930 in Enfield, Jerry was the son of Robert and Nellie Updike Hubbell.

Jerry's active personality kept him busy cutting wood for his wood stove. He also found satisfaction in farming and gardening. This passion for "digging in the dirt" made his job as a self-employed property maintenance man truly a labor of love. Jerry was proud to keep the lawns and shrubs of the Collegetown apartment complexes he was responsible for, impeccably manicured.

Jerry was a life member of the Enfield Volunteer Fire Company where he accepted responsibility of grounds maintenance for many years. Jerry also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his cows, his dogs and his beloved cats.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene and one sister, Leah. He is survived by one son, Dennis (Linda) Hubbell of Enfield; one daughter, Denise Hubbell of Enfield; four grandchildren, Steven and Stephanie Hubbell of Enfield, Shawna (Eunique) George of Enfield and Richard Simmons of Phoenix, AZ; two great-grandchildren, Kiyanna and Tatyanna George; three brothers, including Glenn Hubbell of Ithaca whom he was very close to; his former wife, Mary Hubbell of Newfield; many nieces and nephews and his beloved cat, Trixie.

Jerry's positive attitude and warm, supportive nature will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Services will be held at the Enfield United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 19, 2005 at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Nelson Reppert officiating. Interment, in Grove Cemetery, Trumansburg, will be delayed.

In keeping with Jerry's wishes, no public calling hours have been scheduled.

Contributions in Jerry's memory may be directed to the Enfield Volunteer Fire Dept., 172 Enfield Main Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.

The family has entrusted arrangements to the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. 1-888-534-5446.
