Carl A. Ward, 72, of 89 Buck Hill Rd. South, Trumansburg, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Cayuga Medical Center.
Born September 3, 1934 in Ithaca, Carl was a son of the late Alfred and Ruth (Howell) Ward. A graduate of Trumansburg High School, Carl proudly served in the US Army before taking employment with Babcock Farms where he worked in various parts of the country building their hatchery barns. For many years he was also a self employed carpenter in the Tompkins County area.
Carl was a member of American Legion Post #770 and the Interlaken Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed fishing, time spent with family and friends, and was especially proud of the various lamps he built for family members.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby G. Ward; three sisters, Ethel, Elma and Laura; a brother, John; and a granddaughter, Debra.
Carl is survived by his daughter, Linda (Scott) Kellogg of Trumansburg; his son, David "Bob" (Sandra) Barnett of Alabama; his grandchildren, Bobbi Jo, Scott Jr. "Bubba", David Jr., Mike, Rose and Billy. Also surviving Carl are two sisters, Alice Ward of Trumansburg, and Freda Martin of Owego; a sister-in-law, Jackie Ward of Trumansburg; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Calling hours will be 7-9 pm on Monday, August 27 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 28 at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Jeff Losey officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery, Trumansburg.
