Carol Ann Carpenter

October 20, 1947 — March 19, 2025

Trumansburg

Carol Ann Carpenter (77) of Enfield NY passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband of 60 years by her side on March 19, 2025. After a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, it was her love for life, her husband and all her children and grandchildren that shined until the very end.

Carol Ann was predeceased by her son Thomas “Tommy” Carpenter, her father and step-mother Lynn and Peg Walden, mother and step-father Phyllis and Chuck Predmore, brothers James and Jack Walden and sister Connie Walden. Carol is survived by her husband Stanley “Lamont” Carpenter, who provided her with the most beautiful life and kept his promise to keep her home to continue providing her daily care over the progression of her disease. This allowed her to continue being a part of her entire family’s daily lives right until her final hours. A loving “Mudder”, she is also survived by her three daughters, Lisa Carpenter of Bel Air MD, Susan (Dan) Sheerer of Trumansburg NY and Elizabeth Carpenter of Syracuse NY, as well as her three adoring grandchildren Emily, Dean and Abby, and two sisters, Denise Dilfield and Diane Martin and step-brother George Compton. If there’s any peace to be felt by this loss, it’s knowing that Carol is now reunited with her son Tommy, and the two of them are dancing together in Heaven.

Carol had a remarkable mechanical aptitude and loved nothing more than to be involved in a project at home. She taught her children and grandchildren many skills as they grew up witnessing her replacing screens in campers and sheetrock in rooms, reroofing a garden shed, and meticulously repainting the garden ceramics and caring for flowers around their property. Although she held several clerical positions around the Ithaca and Trumansburg areas over the years, she created the most markable memories for those around her during her years as a homemaker. Her children and grandkids learned about everything from hard work around the house and perfect lines when mowing the lawn to making the most delicious meals and enjoying the simplicity of a game of rummy or checkers (which she NEVER lost!).

Carol loved to read, spend time outdoors, and could sew or make just about anything from cloth. Over the years, she created some of the most amazing quilts, sweaters, and embroidered art. As an active member of the St James of the Apostle Catholic Church in Trumansburg NY for over 48-years, she also participated in various quilting and knitting projects including the Lentin quilt donations and Mission Knitters where she enjoyed knitting hats for newborn babies.

The family will receive friends and family from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg NY.
