Catherine B. Stover of 3296 Gorge Road, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the age of 77.
Born on May 7, 1930, in Trumansburg, Catherine was the daughter of the late George and Mary Priest Burns.
In the years following graduation in 1948, from the Trumansburg High School, Catherine married Beach Stover, and they began their long lives together on what is now known as Cliff Side Farms. She worked side by side with her husband, in the daily operation of the farm and its related businesses. In 1989, they, with the assistance of their children, Ann and Budd, opened Stover Lumber on Route 96 in Jacksonville. Catherine was particularly proud of her two terms in public office on the Ulysses Town Board.
Catherine is survived by a daughter, Ann E. Stover of Jacksonville; a son, M. Budd Stover of Jacksonville; a brother, Lester (Virginia) Burns of Trumansburg; a sister-in-law, Ruth Burns of Trumansburg and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, M. Beach Stover in 2002, and by three brothers.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Jacksonville Community United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 3:00pm with the Rev. Arthur and Norma Jean Fellows officiating. Immediately following the Memorial Service, a reception will be held at Close Hall which is located directly across the street from the church.
Committal prayers at Grove Cemetery will be private.
