Catherine A. Poyer

Catherine A. Poyer of Ithaca, died peacefully on March 12, 2015 at home surrounded by her family.

Cathie was born in Dansville, NY on September 1, 1947, daughter of the late Lawrence and Myrtle Tallman. She worked in administration for 35 years at Tompkins Trust Company prior to her retirement. She was an active member of the Lion’s Club, sang in the choir at Immaculate Conception, and was a Eucharistic Minister serving several local nursing homes. Above all, Cathie loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. In her free time, she loved working in her flower beds and enjoyed watching wildlife. To many she was known as the “flower lady”.

Cathie is survived by her husband, Ken Poyer; two children, Tina (Fred) Fioriello of Connecticut and Jamie (Anita) Poyer of Ohio; two grandchildren, Vincent and Angelo Fioriello; two brothers, Charlie (Heather ) Tallman of Ithaca and Alan (Terry) Tallman of Ithaca; and a niece and nephew.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Monday, March 16, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church, 17 Whig Street , Trumansburg by Father Bernard Maloney. Private burial will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery in Ithaca.
