Charlotte J. Farris, 88, passed away peacefully at her home. She was born April 20, 1934 in Evanston, Illinois.
She was active for many years in the Cortland Community including Zonta, YWCA, Red Cross and voter registration. Charlotte received her PhD from Penn State, was a director of Project Move, an assistant professor at Cornell University, participated in Cornell 11, and an author of the Equal Rights Amendment.
Charlotte was an avid gardener, enjoyed traveling the world, and renovating homes. She loved her family very much and enjoyed holidays, birthdays and celebrations.
Charlotte was predeceased by her loving husband, Dan, of 53 years, and sisters sister Mary and Argy. She is also survived by her three children; Marie (Jamie) Schoonover, Laura (Dave) Savey, Dan (Candy) Farris; brothers, Art, Jack and Bill Johnston; 10 grandchildren; William (Ashley), Danny (Heather), Britney (Daniel), Jessica (Matthias), James, Paige, Jonathan (Kristin), Zachary (Marissa), Seth, and Lucas; five great grandchildren, Sadie, Jayla, Asher, Noah, and Olivia.
A celebration of life will be held on Dec 10, 2022 at the Homer Elks Club from 12:30-3:30. All monetary donations can be made to the Elizabeth Brewster House in Homer.
