Charlotte Voros

Charlotte Voros, 96, formerly of Interlaken, NY, was called by her Lord and Savior and died in her sleep on December 13th. Charlotte spent her final years residing at Oak Hill Manor in Ithaca, NY, where she was a favorite of the staff and very much loved.

Charlotte was born in Hungary in 1924. Although her father, a member of the Hungarian Royal Gendarmerie, died when she was a small child, she expressed great love for him and spoke of him often. During WWII Charlotte worked on the Hungarian railroad as a Morse code translator, but ultimately fled Hungary and the Communist regime. She spent several years in Australia before immigrating to the United States in 1957. After living in several places in the US, she finally settled down in Interlaken, NY, where she lived for many years. Charlotte was very proud of becoming an American citizen, answering “gladly” when asked if she would bear arms to protect the US!

Charlotte raised dogs for a number of years, at one time having two litters totaling 19 puppies. “Can you imagine?!” was an oft expressed sentiment as she talked about her life. She loved all of nature and wildlife, loved to garden, was generous with those she loved, and will be greatly missed by her dear friends.

Per Charlotte’s request, burial will be private.
