Christopher Martin

Christopher Joseph Martin of Freeville passed away at Robert Packer Hospital on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the age of 35.

Born on November 30, 1981 in Ithaca, Chris was a loving and wonderful father with a huge heart and quick wit, and was loved by all he met. He worked at The William George Agency and G.J.R. School district for many years. During his time there the students and staff became a second family to him. Chris was a huge Syracuse basketball fan and NY Yankee fan and enjoyed sports in general.

Chris is survived by his fiancé, Carrie Burlingame Powers; children, Parker E. Martin, Karley Powers, Riley D. Powers, Tre Alford and Autumn Lalone; mother, Mary Barkman; siblings, Deborah Martin, Stanley “Chip” (Jeanette) Martin, Timothy Martin, Daniel (Laurie Brooks) Martin, and Matthew (Lillian Lasher) Martin; sister in law, Kathleen Baker; and nieces and nephews, Adam Langlois, Stephanie Albanese, Steven Martin, Crissy Karns, Branden Martin, and Zackery Martin. He is also survived by many of Carrie’s family who loved him as one of their own, and a close knit group of lifelong friends he called “The A-Team”. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Josephine McLallen; and step father, Paul Barkman.

The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00pm on Friday, June 16 at the Mecklenburg Methodist Church, 6063 Turnpike Road, Mecklenburg, NY. Prayers of Committal will be private for family.
