Clinton O. Boyes

Clinton O. "Bud" Boyes of 3745 County Rd. 150, Interlaken, passed away in the home where he was born nearly 70 years ago on Thursday morning, April 30, 2009 in the comforting presence of his devoted wife and sons.

Born on May 4, 1939, Bud was the son of Clifford O. and Alice M. Crawford Boyes. Raised and schooled in Interlaken, Bud was always content to remain close to home. In August of 1960 he began working at Willard Psychiatric Center, retiring from his carpenter position in April of 1995.

He married Judith Smith on October 28, 1961 and together they fulfilled a dream of raising a family on the Boyes' homestead. Watching his boys play in the same fields, yard and home that he grew up in filled Bud's heart with joy. In recent years, he was blessed to see the little feet of his precious grandchildren scampering across that same soil. Bud always knew that the countless hours that he and Judy spent caring for their property was more than fixing up a house, it was an investment in the future for the generations of Boyes who would follow him.

Bud also enjoyed using his carpentry craftsmanship on various woodworking projects over the years. He had a deep appreciation of nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his wife Judy, Bud is survived by two sons Douglas (Michelle) of Chapel Hill, NC and David (Kris) of Groton; three grandchildren Kianna, Sadie and Alexa; two sisters Janet Griffin and Susan VanGelder both of Interlaken; one niece, three nephews and the Persoon family in Interlaken who have become a second family to Bud over the years as he assisted in the operation of their dairy farm following his retirement.

In keeping with Bud's wishes, no public services will be held.
