Cora E. Seamon-Wood

Cora E. Seamon-Wood of 800 S. Plain St., Ithaca passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Monday, December 1, 2008 at the age of 73.

Born on June 19, 1935 in Ithaca, Cora was the daughter of Lee and Margaret (Hicks) Drake. A lifelong resident of the Ithaca and Trumansburg areas, Cora operated Variety Video in Interlaken and Trumansburg with her son Bill for many years. She also worked at the Trumansburg P & C until 1998. Cora enjoyed the social aspect of both businesses and developed many warm acquaintances through the years.

When her sons were young, Cora served as a Cub Scout Leader. She also collected dolls and faithfully cheered for the New York Yankees. Through her knitting and crocheting talents, Cora created countless treasures for family and friends.

Cora was preceded in death by her husband William L. Seamon on April 17, 2001. She is survived by two sons William of Willard and Robert of Trumansburg; one brother Walter Drake; one grandson Dominik and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, December 4 from 6-8 pm at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg.

A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 5 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Losey officiating. Prayers of Committal will follow at St. James Cemetery.
