Wayne David Reynolds, age 66, of 806 West King Road, Ithaca, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 7, 2005 at the Cayuga Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Born on October 10, 1938 in Trumansburg, NY, Wayne was the son of Thomas and Geraldine Tyler Reynolds. As a teenager Wayne had a great interest in automobiles. Following his graduation from the Trumansburg High School in 1956, his interest in automobiles developed into a true passion which he pursued for the rest of his life. By day, Wayne was a successful Service Manager for Ripley Motors, Zikakis Chevrolet and Cutting Motors (He retired as Cutting's Service Director in November 2000). On nights and week-ends, Wayne tore up the local tracks in New York and Pennsylvania as he became a respected and admired competitor in the racing circuit.
Wayne was a member of the Danby American Legion Post #221. He treasured the time he was able to spend with his children, especially the memorable years enjoyed as a Pee Wee Football coach in Trumansburg and Ithaca. In later years, Wayne kept tabs on the grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they grew and made their own accomplishments through the years.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a brother, Edward. Wayne is survived by his wife, of 29 years, Leslie Cornish Reynolds of Ithaca; children, David (Paula) Reynolds (Brooke, Kayla, Rebecca) of Horseheads, Donald (Debbie) Reynolds (Ben, Jen) of Trumansburg, Pam Reynolds Denmark (Shawn, Matt) of Harrisburg, PA, Dale (Lyn) Reynolds (Reed, Jesse) of Orlando, FL, Liz (Carl) Ford (Jenny, Brian) of Salem, VA, Lester (Rosemary) Hancock (Jason, Crystal) of Bland, VA, Penny (Fred) Goodwin (Melinda, Fred, Jr.) of Forest, VA and Richard Hancock (Carissa) of Christiansburg, VA; eight great-grandchildren with one on the way; one sister, Kathe (Jack) Sheehan of Scotia; one sister-in-law, Sue Reynolds of Schroon Lake; nieces, Amanda (Eric), Sarah and Christian and a nephew, Johnny.
