Dale L. Conroy of Trumansburg passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the age of 82.
Dale was born in Ithaca on July 27, 1942, a son of the late William and Lena (Miller) Conroy. He joined the United States Navy in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1966. Working in a variety of trades, Dale worked as a carpenter and woodworker, truck driver, railroad worker, farmer, and linen aide at Lakeside Nursing Home. He was a member of American Legion Post 770 and loved animals, taking in many strays over the years, most recently his beloved kitty, Catster.
Dale is survived by his wife, Clara Covert; children, Katherine Conroy, Kelly (Mike) Whitaker, Kimberly (Anthony) Taibi, Jonathon Conroy, Amber Conroy, and Nicholas (Sarah) Predmore; grandchildren, Heather Whitaker, M. Whitaker, and Alora Tompkins; sisters, Sharon VanNiel and Patsy Cooper; sister in law, Jane Conroy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Stanley Conroy; and a brother in law, Gary Cooper.
A Celebration of Life will be announced in the Spring.
