Darlene (Cornett) Washburn

Darlene Washburn, age 83, of West Seneca Road, passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Sunday, July 28, 2024.

Darlene was born in Owego on June 2, 1941, the youngest of 8 children to the late Lonard and Adella (nee Chrysler) Cornett Sr.  She was working at Ithaca Gun where she met her future husband, Kenneth L. Washburn. Additionally, she had worked at Salvation Army, Elcore Nursing Home, and while living in the Waverly area for many years, Darlene worked at the Dinner Bell Community Food Program.

She is survived by her children; Robin Washburn of Trumansburg, Kenny Washburn of Ithaca and her son/grandson, James (Lana) Washburn of Trumansburg, grandchildren; Brittany (Paul) Lund of Trumansburg, Brandon (Autumn) of Trumansburg, Tiffany, Zack, Crystal, Kendra and Kenny Washburn all of Ithaca, Christopher and Jaxon Washburn of Minnesota, 12 great grandchildren and a large extended family. Darlene was preceded in death by her son, Brian and by her husband of 57 years, Kenny Washburn in 2021, along with her 7 siblings.

A Celebration of Darlene’s Life will be announced by the family at a later date.
