David G. Stickane, of 4959 Frontenac Rd., Trumansburg, passed away unexpectedly at Cayuga Medical Center on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the age of 51.

Born in Ithaca on December 18, 1956, David was the son of Elizabeth K. Woodams Stickane of Slaterville, and the Late Gordon L. Stickane. Having grown up in the Jacksonville and Trumansburg area, he worked part-time in the Trumansburg High School as a student building worker while attending high school there. Following graduation in 1977, David accepted a full-time position with the Trumansburg High School. Over the years he also worked with Ithaca Airline Limousine.

David enjoyed bowling, hunting, NASCAR and harbored a special interest in all National Geographic magazines and videos. He excelled at spoiling his pets, Smokey and Diamond and had a deep devotion to his children, Sara and Devon.

In addition to his children, Sara A. and Devon M. Stickane, both of Trumansburg, and his mother, Elizabeth Stickane, of Slaterville, David is survived by one brother, Alan (Marsha Gardner) Stickane, of Dryden; one aunt, Janet Stickane, of Ithaca; three uncles, Ralph Stickane Sr, of Endicott, William Woodams Sr, of Ithaca, and Edward Woodams, of Geneva; as well as many cousins, friends and co-workers, including his close friends Richard Traver of Trumansburg, and Ron Peterson (Anita Stafford) of Elizabethtown, PA.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 6-8 pm at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. Prayers of Committal, at the Lakeview Cemetery in Ithaca, will be private.

The family will be establishing a memorial at the Trumansburg Central Schools in honor of David. To contribute to the memorial, contributions may be directed to the David Stickane Memorial Fund, C/O Tompkins Trust Company, PO box 702, Trumansburg, NY 14886. The family also asks those considering a donation to kindly consider the Trumansburg Fire and Ambulance Service, PO Box 418, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
