David E. "Boo" Tarbox

David E. “Boo” Tarbox of Mecklenburg passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 at the age of 73.

David was born in Johnson City, New York on February 19, 1951, a son of the late Raymond Edward and Alice Marie (Howard) Tarbox. He worked for many years in various positions at Cornell University before working in the automotive department at Walmart in Ithaca.

Living life was David’s hobby. He loved engaging with people and displayed his vast knowledge at trivia night at the VFW in Ovid. Being a local boy, his community meant everything to him. David was a member of the Mecklenburg Volunteer Fire Company where he was currently the chaplain and previously served as the secretary. He also attended the Mecklenburg United Methodist Church. David enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR and listening to country music.

David is survived by his three sisters, Mary (Alan) Rand, Patricia (Andrew) Rinchack, and Barbara Tarbox; four nephews, Patrick Rand, Andy (Amy), Chris (Lindsay), and Scott (Linda) Rinchack; several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins; and many friends.

The family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the Mecklenburg United Methodist Church. Burial will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Chenango Valley Cemetery, Binghamton, New York.
