Delores A. Hubbell

d. February 14, 2015

Delores Ann Burlew Hubbell, 84 of 9795 Congress St Ext, Trumansburg, NY passed away peacefully at her home February 14, 2015 with her loving husband and family at her side.

She was born February 10, 1931 to the late Mae Hill Freelove and Kyrle Burlew. Delores attended Ithaca High School until her senior year and then graduated from Trumansburg High School in 1948. Delores’ biggest love was for her family, especially her children and grandchildren; nothing made her happier than a visit from any one of them. She never missed a graduation, play, concert or sporting event that they were a part of. Delores’ interests were bowling, traveling in her RV, country music concerts, her four legged children, poodles Ginger and Sabrina, and attending or watching NASCAR racing (you could often hear her cheering on her favorite driver on a Sunday afternoon). Over the years Delores’ compassion and care touched many lives as she was foster mother, daycare provider, and up until just a few years ago, a home health aide to so many.

She is survived by her husband John “Jack” Hubbell and four children, Thomas Madison, Sandra (Gary) Reynolds, John Hubbell (Debbie) , and Lisa Magee; ten grandchildren, Schuyler (Annie) Madison, Emma Madison, Nathan and Amy Reynolds, Michael (Abby) Hubbell, Emily and Lily Murphy, Matthew, Ashley, and Makayla Magee; seven great- grandchildren (and one more on the way); three brothers, Douglas (Wilma) Freelove, Robert (Tina) Burlew, and Kenny (Maryann) Burlew; one sister in law Ellen Burlew, many nieces and nephews; and longtime friend and partner in crime Jean Donahue. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Wanda Freelove Schwan and Phyllis Burlew Listar; and three brothers, Richard Freelove, Norman Burlew, and Kyrle Burlew.

A special thank you to the staff and aides at Lifetime Hospice Care for all their wonderful support and care of Delores in these last few months. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Trumansburg Volunteer Fire Co., EMS, PO Box 418, Trumansburg, NY 14886.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg.
