Doris M. Rappleye Coon, age 85, longtime resident of Miller Road in Danby, and recently of Interlaken, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Cayuga Medical Center, following a brief hospitalization.

Doris was born at home in Interlaken on April 5, 1930, a daughter to Earl and Hazel (Wiggins) Rappleye. She attended school at Interlaken, and went to work at an early age. She was married to Donald Coon and they made their home in Danby. They had a cabin in the woods, where they spent many summer nights and from where they also hunted. In addition, they produced maple syrup from the sugar bush on their property. Doris had been a member of the Danby Federated Church, where she volunteered for many years at rummage sales and dinners. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Interlaken, to be near family and share her remaining years with her sister, Norma.

Doris is survived by her sister, Norma Stuck of Interlaken; her step daughters, Donna (Buzz) Parker of Lake Toxaway, NC and MaryJane Lee of Brevard, NC and their families and by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, and by her mother and step-father, Hazel Rappleye Fox and Charles Fox, her brother, Harry Rappleye, and a son in law, Tim Lee.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am to Noon on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street in Trumansburg. A funeral service will then folow at Noon, officiated by Jason Fulkerson of the Interlaken Reformed Church. Prayers of committal will be held at Willow Glen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Interlaken Memorial Garden, c/o Interlaken Community Action Group PO Box 48, Interlaken, NY 14847, in Doris’ memory.
