Doris Goodrich

Doris Westcott Goodrich, age 94, died on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at The Taughannock House of Kendal at Ithaca following a brief hospitalization. Born in Alexandria Bay, NY, she lived much of her life in Upstate NY. She held Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Syracuse University and was a retired speech and hearing pathologist. She had been employed in public schools in NY state and in Quincy, MA.

Mrs. Goodrich was a charter member and former president of the New York State Speech Association. She was also a member of the New York State and Massachusetts Retired Teachers Associations, the League of Women Voters, Syracuse Alumni Association, National Education Association and numerous environmental and animal protective organizations.

She is survived by a brother, Royal Westcott and a sister, Cynthia Westcott, both of California, as well as several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Roger.

Funeral services for Mrs. Goodrich are private, and interment will be held at East Lawn Cemetery in Ithaca. A memorial contribution in her memory may be directed to Kendal at Ithaca Resident’s Fund, or a charity of one’s choice.
