Edith Randall Selover, age 95, of Coudersport, PA, formerly of Trumansburg, NY, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 6, 2012.
Born October 17, 1916, on the Brackel Road, Pitcher, NY, Edith was a daughter of the late Wilbur B. and Alice E. (Rorapaugh) Randall. After graduating from Cincinnatus High School in 1935, she then attended the Wilson Memorial Hospital nursing program in 1936. Edith was married to Arthur L. Selover on June 10, 1939; their wedding was the first on record at the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus, NY. The couple moved to Perry City, NY where they lived for two years, and then moved to Washington St. in Trumansburg for five more years. In 1946 they purchased their home on Route 89 in Trumansburg and continued to live there until 2004 for a total of 58 years. Edith was a busy homemaker who still found time to be active in the Home Bureau during the 1950’s and to teach Sunday School at both Calvary Baptist Church in Trumansburg and First Baptist Church in Interlaken. Later she was a member of the Interlaken Reformed Church where she enjoyed many activities with the ladies group. She was also a member of the Ulysses Historical Society, was active in the Senior Citizens of Trumansburg for many years, serving as the advertising chairman for a time, and enjoyed writing articles for the newspaper regarding the Senior’s activities. Edith loved her family and took pleasure in living along Cayuga Lake. She was always ready to “pack a picnic” and go boating on the lake with her husband and family. Many pleasant days were spent riding in the family boat while her husband fished, or boating with friends. She also enjoyed birding, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
