Eleanor R. Soule, formerly of Mecklenburg, passed away October 7, 2007 at Lakeside Nursing Home at the age of 87.
Born September 5, 1920 in Mecklenburg, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Henrietta (Warren) Leonard. Eleanor was a 1938 graduate of Trumansburg High School and was a lifelong resident of the Mecklenburg area. She was a fixture for fifteen years in the Mecklenburg Post Office where she was employed as a postal clerk. She was also a member of the Trumansburg and Enfield Senior Citizens as well as the Mecklenburg United Methodist Church, where she took great pride in serving communion for many years. Eleanor enjoyed cross-stitch, and was a talented seamstress and quilter. She sewed and donated numerous quilts for babies affected by acquired immune deficiency syndrome.
In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Allen W. Soule.
She is survived by her two daughters, Regina (Steve) Corey of Trumansburg, Joyce (Chris) Snyder of Garner, NC; her son, Leonard (Jean) Soule of Mecklenburg; six grandchildren, Scott, Skip, Robin, Deanna, Heather and Crystal; twelve great grandchildren, Tyler, Tiffany, Tera, Regina, Corey, Brandon, Zachary, Anthony, Cortney, Orazio, Tyler and Katie. Eleanor is also survived by a brother, Kermit Leonard of Trumansburg; a sister, Vivian Leonard of Fayettville, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Ralph Selin, will be held at 11am on Thursday, Oct. 11, at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. Friends may call prior to the service from 10-11am.
