Elizabeth "Betty" Egan, a resident of the Evergreen House in Jacksonville (formerly of Interlaken) passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the age of 96.

Born in Interlaken on January 14, 1913, Elizabeth was the daughter of Bert and Mary (Asay) Egan. She was employed by, and over the years became a part of, the VanArsdale family. Elizabeth was a member of the Interlaken American Legion Auxiliary and was Interlaken's Citizen of the Year in 2002. She was an active member of the Interlaken Reformed Church all of her life.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her companion Lyle VanArsdale; three brothers Arthur, Llewellyn and Donald Egan and three sisters Margaret Proper, Thelma Herman, and Ruth Turo. She is survived by one sister Eleanor Tomkins of Baldwinsville; one brother-in-law James Turo of Trumansburg; two sisters-in-law Theresa Egan of Fairport and Betty Egan of Interlaken and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the Interlaken Reformed Church with the Rev. William Hoffman officiating, assisted by the Rev. Derek Vande Slunt. Prayers of Committal will immediately follow at the Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken.
