It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Marie Elmore, who left this world unexpectedly on January 31st at the age of 71.
Evelyn was a very caring person with the ultimate desire to take care of and look after anyone in need. She was always willing to put in the effort to find a solution to any problem, would make a complete stranger feel like they were loved, and would make sure you had enough to eat before she would have a meal for herself.
She was born on May 10,1952 and was a daughter to Floyd and Alma Compton, a sister to Ralph (Sandy) Compton, Joyce (John) Switzer, and Merritt (MaryAnn) Compton. Evelyn was raised on Searsburg Rd in Trumansburg. She always had a passion for gardening, singing, cooking, as well as being part of the church that kept her close to her most important devotion, her family and Jesus Christ.
While attending Word of Life Bible Institute, she met her husband of 52 years, Ken Elmore. They were the first to be married at the newly renovated Calvary Baptist church in Trumansburg. Shortly after, while in love, they started a family of 8 children, including Tammy (Jota) Cornell, David (Jennifer) Elmore, Anthony (Kira) Elmore, Rachel Elmore, Christine (Patrick) Berlinquette, Christopher (Kate) Elmore, Corey (Hillary) Elmore, and Ethan (Kelly) Elmore. She is survived by many precious grandchildren as well.
Her children and her dedication to her Christian fellowship were always her biggest accomplishments. Making people feel like they were loved was her most admirable asset. She wasn't just the mom to her kids, she was one of the favorite moms to every kid in the community that knew her. She would make sure that if you had a “love tank”, it would be filled before you parted ways.
The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church, 5 Bradley Street, Trumansburg. A Funeral Service will immediately follow, at 12:00pm, at the church. Evelyn will be laid to rest at Grove cemetery in Trumansburg privately with family.
