Florence Laue

Florence R. Laue, age 93, passed from this life on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Cayuga Medical Center.

She was born in Endwell, NY on October 4, 1923, one of nine children born to the late Ezra and Margaret (Gorton) Menzies. She enjoyed a long career in food service, starting at Enfield School, Boynton Middle School and lastly Ithaca High School, following her children as they passed from one building to the next. Upon her retirement, she continued cooking at the McGraw House. Florence had been very active in the Enfield Valley Grange and Enfield United Methodist Church, all the while, working side by side with her husband, Harold, on the family dairy farm. After his death, she enjoyed living with her children, Carol and Dale, allowing her to remain active and be a part of their busy family lives.

Florence is survived by her children; George (Maria) Laue of Port Jefferson Station, NY, Joyce (Allen) Wilson of Brooktondale, Carol (Rick) Baker of Ithaca and Dale (Denise) Laue of Enfield, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren; her siblings, Ruth Wobig, Delphine Leonard, Betty Weindorf, Donald and Edward Menzies, and a daughter in law, Donna Laue; sister-in-law Alice Laue and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Harold in 2001, and by her son, Roger Laue in 2005.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1019 N. Cayuga Street in Ithaca. The family will host a reception following the service, and then prayers of committal will be held privately at Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg.
