G. Switzer, Irene

Irene G. Switzer, 81, of Lake City, Florida was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 29, 2004 in Lake City, Florida.

Born on November 5, 1922 in Wilton, North Dakota, Mrs. Switzer was the daughter of Charles C. and Nancy A. Dodds Wright.

Mrs. Switzer married James C. Switzer, Sr. on December 15, 1940 at the Wright's family home in Trumansburg, NY. The couple traveled extensively as Rev. and Mrs. Switzer served as Missionary Pastor and wife from 1942 to the present time. In addition to her labor of love in caring for her husband and 7 children, she graduated from the Ithaca School of Practical Nursing, Tompkins County Hospital, Ithaca, NY in 1967. She retired from nursing in 1990.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Switzer is survived by 7 children: Thurlow J. Switzer and wife Lynda of Gaithersburg, MD; Sarian I. Vunk and husband Merle of Lake City, FL; Bonnie S. Ring and husband Donald of Watertown, NY; Alice F. Bream and husband Thomas of Mechanicsburg, PA; Melvin C. Switzer of Lake City, FL; James C. Switzer, II and wife Sheryl of Glen Aubrey, NY; and CaitlinRae T. McKinney. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 8 grandchildren in-laws, 16 great-grandchildren, one sister, Nellie D. Hollopeter of Gladwin, MI and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church in Trumansburg, New York on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Timothy Hamilton and the Rev Thurlow J. Switzer officiating. Committal services at the Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg will be scheduled at a later date.

Friends are invited to call at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg on Friday, March 5, 2004 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM.
