Gary Emerson Cooper

Gary Emerson Cooper, age 74, formerly of Ithaca, NY passed away at Kenmore Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, NY on September 30, 2022.

Gary was born on January 23, 1948 in Scranton, PA the son of the late Emerson and Grace (nee Bell) Cooper.

Gary served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, and returned home where he worked for NYSEG for many years as a machinist. Gary enjoyed spending time with his loving wife and family. He spent his free time woodworking, reading, fishing, and passed along his love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. He had a wide range of skills and always took the time to teach his children and grandchildren anything he could.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patsy (nee Conroy) Cooper; their children, Sean (Liz Marchole) Cooper, Sarah (Scott) Evans; six grandchildren, Hannah (Jacob) Cline, Noah (Shakaira) Green, Grace Cooper, Caitlin Evans, Dakari Crawford and Danika Evans; his brother, Wayne (Janet) Cooper. In addition to his parents, Gary was predeceased by his in-laws, William and Lena Conroy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks those that would like to make a contribution in Gary’s memory to kindly consider Disabled American Veterans.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday October 6, 2022 from 11:00-12:30 pm at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street Trumansburg NY. A service will begin at 12:30pm, and burial with Military Honors will immediately follow at Jones Cemetery Trumansburg NY.
