George B. “Bucky” Dew of Trumansburg passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the age of 89.
Bucky was born on August 14, 1927, a son of the late John and Margaret (Hall) Dew. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947. Bucky enjoyed riding his motorcycle, square dancing, camping, and flying. He could often be found in his workshop making items that he sold at flea markets across the country. An avid racing fan and stock car racer, he was inducted into the Central New York Stock Car Hall of Fame in 2015.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Hazel Dew; two daughters, Trudy (James) VanOstrand and Kathi (Steve) Service; three grandchildren, Tricia (Hank) Bennett, Nathaniel (Michelle) Swanhart, and Miranda (Ken) Berkley; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Garry Dew and Richard (Dixie) Wager; and four sisters, Juanita (Melton) Sowards, Treassa (David) McCoy, Doris (Bob) Wehe, and Barbara Gregoire. In addition to his parents, Bucky was preceded in death by his step mother, Iva Dew, and a brother, James Dew.
In keeping with Bucky’s wishes, there will be no services.
