Guy Robert White

Guy Robert White, 74, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 17, 2024 with his devoted, cherished wife of 21 years at his side.

He was born in Ithaca on August 2, 1949 to the late Guy A. and Elsie Jane (Perham) White. After graduating from Ithaca High School and attending Corning Community College, he worked for 2 years at T.G. Millers, then was employed at Cornell Campus Bookstore, retiring after 33 years.

He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing -  including fishing trips to Canada with his dad and uncles, golfing, and NY Yankees baseball. He was happiest at home with Ruthie and their “girls,” Amy and Ivy, their dear JR Terrier companions. Guy and Ruthie’s love for each other was touchingly special. They shared a great sense of humor. Guy was quick with clever “one-liner” responses and continued with them into his final days.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Hospicare for their thoughtful helping care in his last few weeks and also to Ness-Sibley Funeral Home for their helpful assistance.

Guy is survived by his wife, Ruthie; three sisters, Elsie J. (Duane) Ray, Marilyn D. (Dale) Rose, and Patricia A. (Michael) Mitchell; several nieces and nephews and their children and grandchild. He is also survived by two stepdaughters, Sharon M. (Tim) Washburn and Heather A. (Scott) Lason; their children and grandchildren; and a special granddaughter at heart, Jillian Morales. In addition to his parents, Guy was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Lou Poole and Cheryl Lee (Kerry) Kleckner; and two brothers in law, Duane C. Ray and Kerry R. Kleckner.

In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours or services.
