Harold Leland Menzies of 48 Cayuga Street, Trumansburg, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the age of 76.

Born in Brooktondale, NY on February 25, 1932, Harold was the son of the late Ezra and Margaret (Gorton) Menzies. He attended grade school at Morris' Chapel on Coddington Road in Brooktondale and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 45 during that time. He later continued his education in Ithaca before enlisting in the US Army in 1950. Harold received an Honorable Discharge in 1953.

On June 21, 1953, Harold married the love of his life, Margaret Marie Lotito. He was employed at Borg Warner Automotive before accepting a position with Emerson Power Transmission. He retired from Emerson in 1994 after 35 years of service. He belonged to the Trumansburg Fire Department and Fire Police from the late 1950's to 1975. He was also an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Trumansburg.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his son James Menzies; a daughter Alice Menzies; a brother Paul Menzies; and a granddaughter Janet Lynn Menzies. He is survived by his wife Margaret Menzies; three daughters MaryAnn (Robert) Cummings of Dundee, Barbara (Jim) Elmore of Trumansburg, and Nancy Menzies of Ithaca; five sisters Ruth Wobig of Lansing, Louise Eaton of Ithaca, Florence Laue of Enfield, Delphine Leonard of Ithaca, and Betty Weindorf of Tennessee; two brothers Donald (Eleanor) Menzies of Long Island and Edward (Donna) Menzies of South Carolina; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 3-5 pm on Sunday, February 15 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 am on Monday, February 16 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Timothy Hamilton officiating. A Military Honors Tribute will be performed at the church immediately following the service.
